Hamadryas Baboon - Cardboard Art Relief sculpture, original art

£56.00

I made this hamadryas baboon monkey in 2023 out of upcycled cardboard. I make my (mostly monkey!) cardboard art work by cutting up old cardboard boxes, and working with the natural grain of the cardboard, using simple folds to create bold sculptural forms.

He is painted with the best quality acrylic paint.

He measures 16 x 14cm approx (height and width), and is about 8cm deep. He'd look really lovely in a extra-deep square shadow box frame (I've got these before from a company called Baby Rice UK on etsy and they're great! I'd recommend the 92mm deep box frame).

Hamadryas baboons are found in the horn of Africa and southwestern Arabia, in shrubby grasslands, savannahs and sub-deserts with few large trees. They sleep on rocky cliff faces at night. Although they are now extinct in Egypt, they were once sacred in ancient Egypt, and depicted as being important to Thoth, sometimes even embodying the god himself.

This is an original, one of a kind piece of art. Attached to the back of the piece is a wire hook for attaching it to the wall.

This cardboard art piece will be packaged safely and sent with signed and tracked postage.
